Condolences to the Battistone family
Retired faculty member and AAUP Chapter leader John Battistone died on Sunday, May 15.
A professor of English and former manager of the Writing Center, he retired from the College in 2012 after 27 years of service. He was a long-time officer of Cincinnati State AAUP.
“John was a crucial member of the team that helped the AAUP Chapter become the faculty union, and he served as the AAUP’s Chief Negotiator and Contract Compliance Officer for many years,” said AAUP Chapter President Pam Ecker. “He established many of the contract compliance processes still in effect for our AAUP Chapter — including always attempting to resolve contractual problems through discussion and collaboration with College administrators, rather than immediately resorting to formal grievance procedures.”
Added Pam, “John’s wit and wisdom were greatly valued by the colleagues who worked with him during his long career at the College.”
He is survived by his wife, two sisters, and a large extended family. Service information will be determined at a later date.
