Bargaining on May 27 addressed several contract articles
The Faculty and Administration teams met for about 4 and a half hours at the bargaining session on May 27.
The Faculty Team said the session included discussion of several contract articles, and the administrators expressed their appreciation to the Faculty team for a productive session.
The two teams agreed on some changes to Article 13 (Employee Relationship & Severance), primarily related to timelines for processes described in this article.
The Faculty team presented proposals for changes to Article 6 (Faculty Involvement in Governance of the College).
Faculty Chief Negotiator Greg Klein said, “The faculty proposal included changes for College-wide committees that were recommended by the Faculty Senate and several other faculty governance groups. Our proposal also addressed some faculty concerns about College safety protocols that were discussed during many of the AAUP Open Forums held during Spring semester.”
Also, the Faculty team presented proposals to update the language of Article 2 (Non-discrimination/Affirmative action), and to clarify portions of Article 3 (Relationship between the Parties), Article 7 (Selection and Hiring), and Article 12 (Benefits).
The Faculty team expects the Administration to respond to the faculty proposals at a future bargaining session.
In addition to the bargaining sessions already scheduled for June 2 and 3, bargaining sessions were scheduled for June 17 and June 18.
