Aug. 26 bargaining achieves a tentative agreement for new contract

On Thursday, Aug. 26, about 4:30 p.m., the Faculty and Administration Bargaining Teams reached a tentative agreement for a new 2-year contract.

The tentative agreement was achieved after more than 7 hours of negotiations on Thursday, with Mediator Joe Wilson in attendance.

The Faculty Bargaining Team and the AAUP Officers met Thursday early evening to discuss the tentative agreement.

Chapter members will have an opportunity to review the details and ask questions before voting on the tentative agreement next week. Additional information about the schedule for Chapter meetings will be provided to members via email.

The College Board of Trustees is expected to schedule a special meeting to vote on the tentative agreement, but the date for that meeting is not yet established.

Until a new contract agreement has been ratified by the Chapter members and the Board members, the terms of the current contract remain in effect.

Faculty Chief Negotiator Greg Klein said, “These were challenging negotiations, but it’s a great achievement for the faculty and the administration to be able to reach a tentative agreement at the bargaining table, and not need to continue with additional contentious steps, like fact-finding.”

“The AAUP Officers and Bargaining Team will be presenting to our members a tentative agreement that we believe accomplishes many of the goals that we know are important to our faculty,” Greg said.

Faculty members with questions or concerns should contact AAUP Chapter President Pam Ecker.
