AAUP Meeting on Feb. 11
Cincinnati State AAUP invites all AAUP bargaining unit faculty members to a multi-faceted meeting on Monday, Feb. 11, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. (An Outlook Calendar invitation was sent to eligible faculty.)
Meeting Part 1: Service projects that help promote student success
Project 1 – Help assemble at least 500 “Student Midterm Survival Kits” filled with items that will give our students a boost as they approach the middle of the semester.
Each Survival Kit will include a guide to campus resources and a granola bar– but that’s just a start.
- With input from students, we developed a list of other items students would like to receive in their Survival Kits– please check out the list at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090F49A5A72CA5FD0-student and then sign up for items you’re able to bring to Common Time on Feb. 11, to be added to the Survival Kits. (An alternative is to donate funds to purchase Kit contents– see Pam Ecker for details.)
- During Common Time, we’ll assemble Survival Kits, and add messages of encouragement (written by faculty) to each kit.
- We’re also seeking faculty volunteers to help distribute the Survival Kits on Feb. 19 through Feb. 22. To sign up to help with this task, visit https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090F49A5A72CA5FD0-distribution
- If you have questions about the Survival Kit project, contact Meredith Effler (meredith.effler@cincinnatistate.edu )
Project 2 – Help Re-stock the Career Closet – We will collect Career Closet donations (clothing and/or money) at Common Time on Feb. 11.
Cincinnati State AAUP is a long-time sponsor of the College’s Career Closet, that provides career-appropriate attire at no charge for students preparing for interviews and co-op work assignments.
Spring semester includes job fairs and other career-related events, including the CState Co-op & Career Expo on Feb. 28, so this is a key time to restock the closet.
- While gently-used career wear is always welcome, new items are especially appreciated.
- The women’s section is currently in need of separates – basic yet stylish jackets, trousers, and skirts in all sizes.
- Shoes are also in short supply.
- For shoppers who live for end-of-season sales, this is a great time to pick up a couple of extra pieces to donate.
- For those wishing to make monetary donations, contributions will be put to use by volunteer designated shoppers.
If you want to donate or drop off contributions at another time, or help shop, contact Andi Feld (andrea.feld@cincinnatistate.edu )
Meeting Part 2 – Chapter business updates and “Contract 101” discussion
- Review of recent AAUP activities (Incentives compensation, FACT committee topics, and more)
- Review of key provisions of the current AAUP Unit 1 contract, and Q&A about contractual concerns. While this portion of the meeting is open to all, it’s particularly recommended for those who have joined the faculty during the past 3 years.
