Teams reached agreement on several small changes at May 25 bargaining session

The Faculty and Administration bargaining teams met for about 2-and-a-half hours on May 25, and reached agreement on small changes to several contract articles.

Topics resolved during the session included small changes to a few portions of Article 3 (Relationship Between the Parties), Article 12 (Benefits), Article 13 (Employment Relationship & Severance – the change corrects a typing error), and Article 14 (Tenure).

The teams also discussed changes proposed by the administration for Article 7 (Selection and Hiring) and the Faculty Team presented a proposal for some changes to Article 6 (Governance). Additional discussion of these topics will continue at future bargaining sessions.

Faculty Team member Betsy LaSorella said, “We’re happy about the progress we’ve made during the three bargaining sessions this week, and hope the positive momentum continues next week, too.”

Following the bargaining session, the Faculty Team worked for another three hours preparing for negotiations next week, and meeting with the AAUP officers. Once again, the team greatly appreciated the food provided by faculty volunteers, and also thanks the academic administrator who supplied tasty cronuts for both teams.

The next bargaining sessions are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, May 30 and 31.
